Peak Environmental (Peak) was retained by a property management company to provide LSRP services and manage environmental aspects of a 9.5 acre commercial and industrial property historically operated as a paper mill and clothing factory. The property is improved with one multi-story building with a footprint totaling approximately 250,000 square feet. Peak identified contamination related to historic operations and conducted a rapid site characterization using a Membrane Interface Probe (MIP) to delineate impact. Contamination was verified relative to applicable regulatory standards, Peak completed a remedial alternative analysis for areas requiring active remediation, and performed an in-situ remedial action pilot test for the most cost effective option: injection of hydrogen releasing compounds (HRC). Site data and the selected remedial alternative was included in a Remedial Action Workplan (RAW) certified by the LSRP. The RAW included a Permit by Rule (PBR) application for site wide remediation. The NJDEP issued the PBR and the full scale remedial action via insitu injections of HRC was completed.
