Peak Environmental, A Nova Group, GBC Company was retained by a leading real estate developer to conduct environmental due diligence for a property in Newark, NJ. The property was formerly a commercial car park serving Newark Airport travelers. The client saw significant benefit to the local economy by changing use of the property to industrial and becoming part of the expanding supply chain associated with Newark Airport. Peak identified and managed environmental areas of concern, terminated and re-established institutional and engineering controls for known contamination in soil, quickly obtained and transferred the Remedial Action Permit to the new owner, and issued a Response Action Outcome (RAO). Peak was subsequently obtained to assist with redevelopment activities, including demolition and construction support, installation of engineering controls, and managing administrative tasks required by environmental regulations. The property was recently featured in Real Estate NJ’s online publication.
