Redevelopment Project, Kearny, NJ

Peak Environmental, A Nova Group GBC company (Peak) was retained by a developer to manage environmental aspects of the redevelopment of a former  industrial property within an NJ-designated Redevelopment Area into a commercial property . The property was previously improved with nine multi-story industrial buildings utilized for large scale manufacturing of floor coverings since the 1940.  Building footprints totaled approximately 180,000 square feet, all were demolished under the plan. Peak provided effective environmental consulting to rapidly define and characterize demolition wastes, including asbestos building materials, PCB-containing materials, contaminated soil, hazardous waste, concrete and non-hazardous building materials. Peak developed management strategies for each type that incorporated sampling plans, laboratory analysis and data interpretation to quickly characterize, get approvals, and remove the material from the property. The program advanced the project quickly through regulatory requirements, allowing timely decision-making on issues critical to the project schedule.  Peak is providing the following services for this project.
