Peak Environmental, A Nova Group GBC company (Peak) was retained by a retail company to manage environmental aspects of the redevelopment of a former commercial and industrial property into a 525,000 square foot product distribution facility. The property comprises 35 acres and was previously improved with a 125,000 square foot warehouse buildings and two maintenance buildings, were demolished under the redevelopment plan. Peak completed a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment and NJ Preliminary Assessment Report, and rapidly advanced the project through regulatory requirements by developing and implementing an efficient soil and groundwater sampling program for selected areas of concern, supporting rapid determination schedule, likely endpoints, and estimated costs for required environmental tasks. This allowed timely decisions on issues requiring immediate remediation, and appropriate control of those that could be managed in parallel with construction activities and future use. Building materials management was also required for asbestos building materials and PCBs in concrete.  Primary AOCs included a former underground storage tank field, an area of oil contamination from an unknown source, and former maintenance operations, each of which required active remediation. Peak successfully remediated soil impact through excavation, and reduced contaminant concentrations in groundwater, Peak has provided the following services for this project.
