A church in Newark managing environmental issues on their property found themselves caught in a dispute that stalled the project. Compliance with environmental regulations was needed allow full use of the property to the benefit of the church and surrounding community. Arnold Calabrese, Managing Shareholder, along with Sarah Klein, from Becker & Poliakoff, P.A. became involved and assembled a team of environmental experts, including Kassidy Klink, a Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) from Peak Environmental, A Nova Group, GBC Company (Peak). The Becker team utilized available legal options to successfully resolve the matter while Peak communicated with NJDEP, developed an efficient plan and implemented a sampling program to fill data gaps and characterize soil. Peak identified administrative solutions using an NJDEP permit and engineering control. Peak will issue a Response Action Outcome (RAO) on receipt of the permit, allowing the church to improve and utilize the area as needed. Successful management of the project earned the Becker team an Equal Justice Medal from Legal Services of NJ. Peak congratulates the Becker Team and thanks our supporting contractors for donating their services: Brian Kokot from Environmental Probing Investigations provided drilling services, and Tom Cady from Aqua Pro-TecH Laboratories provided laboratory analysis.
